OK, you couldn't find any 6" Schedule 40 at Home Depot or similar? Bummer. Just looked up what you bought and about had a heart attack at what four cost. $133+ buys the average DIYer a lifetime supply of 6" vents: JM Eagle Foamcore 6 in. x 10 ft. Well, according to the PE blurb, the flare diameter is ~2.345x larger than the 6" pipe, so combined with the short ('fast') flare rate, it may look cosmetic, but it isn't acoustically, i.e. it will affect the pipe's length.Quote:

This reminds me, you made the truncated back wider than I meant, so once shoved into the corners they will create a fairly large, lossy Helmholtz resonator tuned down around 60 Hz, so will probably need to be stuffed or a foam insert attached to the rear of the cab to damp it.Quote:

WRT the 5" back I have a big 8" base molding that goes all around the room on the floor with a crown molding at the ceiling.So decided to make the back a couple inches wider and will be well damped in that back 5" piece maybe 3" of insulation along with the top and sides near the woof's.I will test to see if the whole cabinet needs dampening,if not it will be at the bottom of cab that will not receive the insulation but top and sides up high near woof's will receive most of the insulation.
Added: GM I will check with a Plumbing suppy house that is a long shot but they are said to be able to get stuff not normally carried by other local Co's if I can't get schedule 40 which is usually gray incolor in my area in 6" then the rectangular port will be my course of action.

There's nothing wrong with them, just they simply aren't needed for this app since the dual ~6" PVC pipes are big enough to have an inaudibly low vent mach at 150 W rated power at 25 Hz and a whole lot cheaper. Think of it this way, each driver has a vent with an area (CSA) greater than Altec's typical 2.5" 11" slot vent which we know was designed for low distortion in high power prosound apps, so normally overkill in a HIFI/HT app.Quote:

So what are you saying? That you have no Home Depot or similar near you? I mean if they don't stock it like they do here, all you have to do is order anything they list, but don't normally stock, and usually get it within a day or two, plus IME, you can order anything any of their suppliers have access to regardless of whether they offer it on-line and/or in stores and again IME, usually ~the same/cheaper than buying it elsewhere once all things are considered.Quote:

Understood and for sure, one of each parallel internal cab walls needs to be damped as well as any bracing in-between them, but I was referring to the triangular, lossy tuned pipe cavity the speaker will create once shoved hard into the corner that will probably need to be damped.

Well, HD being Atlanta based, I called the 'powers that be' available on a Saturday and was told the store should custom order it for you using the 136293 SKU # and it would normally come in on whichever the next departing truck shipment of lumber, plumbing, whatever was (usually lumber).
Understood about 'customer no service'. I'm ~equidistant from both the main store and and the nearest 'deep suburb' store with the available stock variety and especially customer service being night n' day between the two. No 'free lunch' for the extra service/selection though, the traffic both ways is typically congested during most of its open hours, so a higher trip cost in time/fuel.
